At Badlands Wellness, we offer compassionate peer support for domestic violence survivors, uniquely led by someone who has navigated the journey of healing. Our approach fosters a safe space for sharing experiences, free from the pitfalls of well-meaning but unprepared friends and family. Embrace serenity and elevate your spirit with trauma-informed conversations that empower you on your path to recovery. Many people feel the need to discuss transformative times in their lives, especially those rooted in trauma, but it can be very complicated to navigate those conversations with friends and family which can leave survivors feeling frustrated and even more isolated. Peer support allows a safe space without the common pitfalls of: 1. Having the responsibility put on survivors with questions like "Why didn't you say something?" or "Why didn't you just leave?" that just leave survivors having to defend themselves for what they endured and feeling ashamed for what they had to do to survive; 2. Having to comfort others for what they endured because others cannot even handle hearing about it, not to mention living it; and 3. Having to worry about personal biases from those in your life who know your abuser or having to worry about what you say circling through your friend and family groups.
